Dr. Anika A. Evans

Dr. Anika A. Evans is a distinguished leader and visionary with over a decade of experience in education. Known for her adeptness at identifying and dismantling barriers within programs, systems, and processes, Dr. Evans excels in guiding collaborative teams to implement corrective strategies and drive process improvements. Her commitment to enhancing educational quality and delivering exceptional service to students is at the core of her professional journey. 

Dr. Evans’s career is marked by a profound dedication to advocacy and education. Her impactful work began with leading voter registration and literacy initiatives for the City of Decatur, AL, during the historic 2008 Presidential election. She further demonstrated her advocacy skills by supporting Fisk University’s George O’Keeffe collection in 2010 and serving as a Legislative Intern for the late Representative Barbara Ward Cooper during the 107th General Assembly in 2011. 

Her commitment to civic engagement continued as she organized voter ID information sessions and transportation for Nashville, TN college students during the landmark 2012 Presidential election. In the classroom, Dr. Evans taught high school in North Philadelphia and middle school in Duval County, where she developed a conflict resolution training program that addressed behavioral concerns. This initiative led to the creation of the “Create Your Voice” project for after-school programs, reflecting her dedication to social awareness, community support, and solution-based programming. 

Dr. Evans has held various influential roles, including Graduation Coach, Success Coach, Program Coordinator, Activity Director, and Senior Director of Programming at higher education institutions and non-profit organizations. Her passion for education and mentorship has been evident throughout her career. 

A dedicated public servant and mentor, Dr. Evans is an AmeriCorps Alum, Leadership for Educational Equity alum , Teach for America alum , and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Her exemplary contributions have earned her multiple Presidential Volunteer Awards and leadership honors. 

Dr. Evans remains a committed patron of Mt. Zion Baptist Church-Nashville and participates in various community mentoring groups, continuing her legacy of service and leadership. 

Dr. Evans earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Pre-Law) and History from the historic Fisk University. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Equity, Ethics, and Justice and a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.
